Song: Bridges

Bridges

Bridges are made to cross barriers
Bridges are made of stone
Bridges are made to carry each other
Cross the river and back on to your home

Seems like there is not one in sight right now
Seems like it’s more of the same
blaming each other and kicking the can
and ending up all alone just the same

Bridges are made to cross barriers
Bridges of steel and stone
Bridges are made to carry your loved ones
You can depend on them in a storm

I can see those guys on the other shore
they always did know to have fun.
And if I swam across this great divide i’m afraid
I might be met with a gun

Bridges are made to cross barriers
Bridges are made of stone
Bridges are made to carry your best friend
From your place and back to his home

We need a bridge
We need a song.
We need to never leave each other again
Lest we give in to the sirens and their rocks and the storm

We need a bridge
We need some hope
How can we say one half’s right and the other half, well…
There just some kind of a joke

We need a bridge
We need some love
Because pointing fingers and passing judgment
Well, it’s just plain old wrong.

We need a bridge
We need a song.
How can anybody in their right mind claim to be right
If everybody’s wrong

We need a bridge

Bridges are made to cross barriers
Bridges of steel and stone
Bridges are made to carry each other
Cross the river and back on to our homes

We need a bridge
We need some love
We need some hope
We need some love

Song Background!

For quite some time I have witnessed the continued fall of this great country. I know many will disagree. No matter what the conversation, someone will loudly disagree.

People in either political party would never act as divisive as what we see today. And just bringing up the topic will polarize an entire room. This should not be. We are neighbors, friends, often times relatives. Yet we cannot agree on simple things like how we treat people.

This song is about finding a way to come together. Finding a way to overcome the barriers that separate us. About finding a way to remember the most important thing is each other. Not material things and certainly not money.

Everywhere I look I see fear and hate. We need to replace that with Love and Understanding.

We need to come together and Bridges are metaphorically the thing that will allow us to do that.

So there you go.
