Song: Songs From The Mountains

Songs From The Mountains

Through the long travels thru the Bitterroots
Down the Flathead to the lake
Across the Sawtooths and the Middle Fork
Down the Main and on to the Snake

I have seen the greatest wild frontiers
I have traveled with my homies like musketeers
I have camped at the lakes co clear, you’ll cry
For the wild western peaks and the great blue sky

Instead of sitting home and wondering why
I have lived my life under the Western sky
When the peaks have been climbed well beyond
I go back my home by the little tiny pond

I’m going home, I’m going home, I’m going home, I’m going home
And I’m bringing songs from the mountain,
I’m bringing songs from the mountains back to you.
Back to you. Back to you.

I see those tilted rocks on the three great peaks
My heart leaps and my knees go weak
And it’s Colorado sweet in the Purple Mountain Majesty

I’m coming home, I’m coming home
To where love is the only thing known to me
Where I can be with those brown eyes waiting for me
I’m coming home, I’m coming home

And I’m bringing songs from the mountains,
I’m bringing songs from the mountains.
Back to you. Back to you.

I won’t be long, I wont be late
If you wait up for me I’ll keep you up real late.
I’m coming home. I’m coming home.
I’m bringing songs from the mountains back to you.

Back to you. Back to you.

Song Background!

Becoming a successful publisher of fine quality music theory books for guitar has it's advantages. It has allowed me the money to purchase a few whitewater boats and the time to use them.

My background includesas many as 15,000 miles hiking and an additional 3-4,000 miles running rivers. Camping is mandatory.

In all that time I have had the greatest luxury doing this, in that I have met some of the finest people in the world. They have taken me under their wing and allowed me to prosper under their tutelage. A privilidge I am supremely thankful for.

This song is about honoring those that has shared these memories with me as we have experienced the greatest scenery the West has to offer.

From the northern reaches of Idaho deep into the Grand Canyon, I have had the most wonderful of experiences with the best of friends. And I have nothing but great things to say about them all.

As usual this song is from the perspective of coming home to my wife and family. So many times I have called home from the road to let them know I am safe and coming home.

In short, this song sums up how I feel on the drive home.
